The Masai Mara - Photos of the boundless freedom of Africa
The Maasai Mara is the richest natural animal reserve in Kenya. Throughout the entire year travel animal and nature lovers to the reserve to photograph the impressive wildlife of Africa. A few years ago I could take a trip to this wonderful place and delight the fascinating atmosphere of the Masai Mara.
In this two weaks I could take over 300 photographs – which I have collected in the Maasai Mara Gallery –, showing the magical nature and partly hard life of the animals of Kenya. A special highlight was the annual wildebeest migration. It is the world's largest migration of wildebeest and zebras over the Masai Mara in Kenya to Tanzania. You could see on my pictures how crowded the wildebeest and zebras standing on the shore of the Mara River, then to run in a big cloud of dust and swim through the river. Of course, this abundance of wildebeest also attracts animals such as lions and vultures who use this richly served table.
In the Masai Mara Nature Reserve is it possible to photograph the animals up close. Even if the rangers comes from time to time and force the photographers mob to drive off. So I could still take photos of a leopard as he eats on a tree a captured wildebeest. I also have take some photographs of all kinds of the "Big Five" consisting of elephant, buffalo, a Rhinoceros, lion and leopard.
Even if you spend only a little time in the nature reserve, the Maasai Mara still allows to get a very intense experience of the nature. And for lovers of the African continent, it is a paradise.
